1. Who we are

This website is published under the name mm-to-inches.net. We provide browser-based unit conversion tools, charts, worksheets, and related educational reference content.

We do not claim that mm-to-inches.net is affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Google, NIST, Microsoft, Cloudflare, or any other third party referenced on this website.

2. Scope and current advertising status

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you visit mm-to-inches.net, use our converter and reference tools, contact us, or use a linked browser extension.

We load the Google AdSense code snippet as a site-verification method and as the bootstrap for Google Privacy & messaging. We also publish an authorized `ads.txt` seller declaration for account and site review. The same AdSense code can support Auto ads if they are separately enabled in the mapped AdSense account. This release does not authorize ad placements or ad serving. Auto ads, Auto optimize, experiments, manual ad units, and every other ad-serving path must remain disabled. The Google code contacts Google and may transmit technical request information such as IP address, page URL, browser or device information, and related identifiers for verification, consent-message operation, security, fraud prevention, and service operation. It may make managed-runtime requests even when no visible ad is shown. The `ads.txt` declaration identifies an authorized seller; it does not display an ad or show that Google has approved this website.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, one Google Privacy & messaging European-regulations consent message provides choices for the optional processing described below. This verification-only state does not mean that personalized ads or any other ads are active. If AdSense ad serving is enabled in a later, separately approved release, this policy, the Cookie Policy, the provider list, and the effective date must be updated together before serving begins.

3. Information handled when you use the website

3.1 Conversion values and local features

Conversion calculations are performed in your browser. The website may store conversion history and favorites in browser local storage on your device using `mmInchHistory` and `mmInchFavorites`. Those local records remain until you clear them through the website or your browser settings. They support user-requested functional features and are not advertising consent records.

Some page addresses and share links may contain a conversion value, direction, precision, or rounding choice. Requested URLs can be visible to your browser, hosting and security providers, consent/verification providers, analytics providers after analytics is allowed, and anyone with whom you share the link. Value-specific pages may also send the displayed conversion value and interaction metadata in analytics events after analytics is allowed. Do not enter names, contact details, account numbers, confidential information, or other personal or sensitive data into conversion fields or share URLs.

3.2 Technical and usage information

When you visit the website, we and the enabled services described below may receive information such as:

the page URL and referring page;
IP address and approximate location derived from it;
browser, operating system, device type, language, and screen information;
date, time, pages viewed, interactions, feature choices, and error or performance information;
cookies, local storage values, consent signals, or other identifiers used by a provider under its current configuration; and
conversion-page values or non-personal interaction parameters included in analytics events after analytics is allowed.

We do not describe all provider data as anonymous. Provider behavior, identifiers, retention, and access depend on the provider, our current account settings, your choices, and applicable law.

3.3 Contact messages

The current Contact page creates a `mailto:` link and asks your device to open your email application. The website does not send the form to a site database through a server-side form endpoint. If you choose to send the email, your name, email address, subject, message, and related email metadata are processed by your email provider and ours. We use the message to respond, provide support, investigate issues, and maintain appropriate records.

4. Why we use information

We use information, as applicable, to:

deliver and secure the website;
provide conversion, history, favorites, share, print, and copy features;
verify the website and operate the Google consent message;
record and apply available privacy choices;
measure page and feature usage only when the analytics gate allows it;
diagnose errors, abuse, performance, and reliability issues;
respond to support requests and corrections;
maintain records needed for security, compliance, and dispute handling; and
if advertising is later enabled, deliver, measure, limit, secure, and, only where permitted and selected, personalize advertising.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the basis may include providing a user-requested service, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, consent for optional storage or processing, and compliance with legal obligations. A consent choice for one purpose does not automatically authorize an unrelated purpose. Analytics consent does not grant advertising consent.

5. Providers and data purposes

The current verification-only baseline uses the following providers and purposes:

Cloudflare and hosting/infrastructure services: content delivery, network security, availability, routing, logging, abuse prevention, and a coarse request-time classifier that returns only `REGULATED`, `OPT_OUT`, `NON_REGULATED`, or `UNKNOWN`. These services may process IP address, requested URL, request headers, timing, device/browser information, security signals, and service logs as needed to deliver and protect the website. No country or state code is exposed to or persisted by the browser for this classifier.
Google AdSense and Google Privacy & messaging: site verification, delivery and operation of the European-regulations consent message, consent signaling and records, security, fraud and abuse prevention, and service operation. The preserved bootstrap may process IP address, page URL, browser/device information, consent status, and related technical identifiers before a choice. No ad placement or ad serving is authorized by this baseline.
Google Analytics 4: page and feature-usage measurement only when the v3 analytics gate permits it. GA4 remains blocked when Global Privacy Control is enabled, when this browser has the site’s analytics opt-out, when preference storage cannot be read, in unknown scope, before a valid analytics grant in the EEA/UK/Switzerland scope, and after an unusable Google decision callback. For US-coded requests and other recognized locations outside the European message scope, GA4 may load after three seconds without a Google decision callback only when neither privacy veto is present. Pre-permission events are not replayed.
Microsoft Clarity: interaction, usability, and performance analysis under the same v3 gate as GA4. We do not use Clarity’s limited no-consent mode. Clarity remains blocked whenever GPC or the local analytics opt-out applies and in every state that blocks GA4. Analytics permission does not grant advertising storage, ad user data, or ad personalization.
Plausible at `plausible.shipsolo.io`: disabled pending evidence. The script, initializer, preconnect, and requests are not part of this release. We do not describe the endpoint as cookieless or anonymous. Adding it requires endpoint, storage, payload, provider-role, retention, and lawful-basis evidence plus a new synchronized copy freeze.
Ahrefs Analytics: disabled in this baseline. It may not be enabled without analytics gating, current configuration evidence, and a synchronized provider-inventory update.
Email providers: message content and email metadata when you choose to send us an email.
Google/Chrome Web Store services: store and installation-related information when you choose to visit or install the linked browser extension.

These services may act as processors, service providers, or independent controllers depending on the service, contract, configuration, and applicable law. Their own privacy notices also apply to their processing.

6. Cookies, local storage, consent, and your controls

The website uses browser local storage for conversion history and favorites. Hosting, security, Google verification/CMP operation, and consent records may use cookies, local storage, scripts, pixels, web beacons, or similar technologies according to the deployed configuration. Optional GA4 and Clarity technologies load only when the analytics gate permits them. Plausible and Ahrefs are disabled in this baseline.

The site uses a coarse request-time operational scope supplied by Cloudflare: `REGULATED`, `OPT_OUT`, `NON_REGULATED`, or `UNKNOWN`. `REGULATED` identifies this site’s EEA/UK/Switzerland Google-message scope. `OPT_OUT` groups US-coded requests so the site can provide one conservative opt-out behavior without exposing or storing a state or country code in the browser. `NON_REGULATED` means only another recognized location outside those two product groups. These labels control site behavior; they do not state which law applies or that a location is legally unregulated. Preview hosts, missing country data, failed scope checks, and unrecognized values are `UNKNOWN`.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, mm-to-inches.net blocks Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity globally as a site privacy choice. GPC is commonly used to communicate requests concerning sale, sharing, or cross-context targeted advertising. Our broader analytics block does not state that either analytics service is a sale or sharing under a particular law. The site does not store GPC as consent and cannot turn off a signal controlled by your browser or extension. The browser code reads only strict `navigator.globalPrivacyControl === true`; independently, Cloudflare can observe the exact navigation or probe request header `Sec-GPC: 1` and return only `X-MMTI-GPC: 1` to the first-party no-store probe. Either true signal blocks analytics, and neither is persisted by the site.

You can also use Privacy & analytics choices to save a first-party browser preference that blocks GA4 and Clarity. The preference is stored as `mmti:analytics-opt-out:v1` with value `1` in local storage until you withdraw it or clear site data. It contains no country, state, timestamp, provider ID, or consent choice. Withdrawing it removes only this site preference; it does not grant consent, alter Google CMP choices, override GPC, or bypass regulated or unknown fail-closed rules.

Same-tab session storage uses `mmti:google-decision-callback-seen` to prevent an unusable late Google callback from reopening the timeout fallback, `mmti:analytics-deny-reload:v1` with `manual`, `gpc`, or `cmp` only as a one-reload loop guard, and settings-open/error flags for the Google settings handoff. These flags are not permission records and contain no country or state.

With neither veto present, `REGULATED` requires a complete valid Google analytics decision. `UNKNOWN` remains blocked. `OPT_OUT` or `NON_REGULATED` may load GA4 and Clarity after three seconds only if no Google decision callback was observed. A callback containing denied, unknown, malformed, mixed, partial, or `NOT_CONFIGURED` values cannot use that path. Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization remain denied.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the Google message provides Consent, Do not consent, and Manage options. The separate Review consent settings action reopens available Google choices. Rejecting optional processing does not disable the core converter.

A new or later opt-out applies to future site dispatch after it is detected. The site sends available provider denial or erase commands and reloads when analytics had already loaded, but this may not retroactively delete information already processed by an independent provider. Provider-specific access or deletion requests may require that provider’s controls or contact process.

On the standalone script-free Privacy Policy route, Privacy & analytics choices is a plain first-party link to `/cookie-policy#privacy-choices`; that route does not load or invoke the consent message or optional analytics.

We do not claim that the website automatically honors a browser “Do Not Track” signal. DNT is separate from Global Privacy Control.

7. Conditional future Google AdSense processing

This section describes a future state and does not mean that advertising is currently active or that Google has approved the website.

If Google AdSense ad serving is enabled in a later approved release, Google and selected advertising partners may collect, receive, share, and use information as a result of ad serving. Technologies may include cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, page URLs, device or browser information, and other identifiers for ad delivery, measurement, frequency control, fraud prevention, and, where your settings and valid consent permit, personalization.

If additional ad technology providers are enabled, the consent interface or an accessible linked provider list will identify them and link to information about their activities and available controls. For personalized ads in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, a later serving release must use the required Google-certified CMP/TCF flow and pass separate Legal, account, network, storage, placement, and consent review. Google certification does not by itself establish compliance with every applicable law.

8. Retention

Conversion history and favorites stored in browser local storage remain until you clear them.
Contact emails are retained only as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support and correction records, protect the website, or meet legal obligations.
Hosting, security, Google verification/CMP, consent, and consent-granted analytics providers retain information according to our current account settings, their terms, and applicable law. We do not promise a universal fixed duration where the deployed setting has not been verified.

We may keep aggregated or de-identified information where lawful and appropriate, but we do not assume that all provider data is anonymous.

9. International processing

The providers used by the website may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we seek to use contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards appropriate to the service and transfer. Specific provider roles and transfer mechanisms must be verified against current contracts and settings before a production compliance approval.

10. Children

The website is a general-purpose conversion service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not provide user accounts, public posting, or payment features in the current service. Do not send us personal information about a child. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@mm-to-inches.net so we can review the request.

If audience, account, payment, upload, advertising, or personalization features change, we will conduct a new children’s privacy review before release.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent for personal information we control.

Depending on where you live, GPC may communicate an opt-out or objection recognized by applicable law. mm-to-inches.net applies the broader analytics-blocking product rule described above without claiming that this response determines the site’s legal status, statutory applicability, or the legal classification of a provider’s processing.

To make a request, email support@mm-to-inches.net and describe the request. We may need proportionate information to verify that the request relates to you. For data controlled directly by a third-party provider, you may also need to use that provider’s privacy controls or contact process.

12. Security

We use HTTPS and rely on hosting, access-control, and service-provider safeguards appropriate to the website. No transmission, browser storage, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not use the converter or contact email to submit secrets, credentials, identity documents, or sensitive personal data.

13. Browser extension

The linked MM to Inches browser extension is intended to perform conversions and copy user-requested results. Current public claims about its permissions and data handling must remain consistent with the extension package and Chrome Web Store listing. The extension and store may have separate technical flows and provider terms. If extension behavior changes, this policy must be updated before the changed version is published.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when practices, providers, features, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a fixed “Last updated” date. Material changes to advertising, consent, or provider practices must be released together with the corresponding product and account changes.
